Now we have at least two bone-heads who thought this would be a good idea? Sometimes I really wonder about our ability to evolve.

well, if you want to get philosophical about it, it feeds right in to evolution. the strongest survive and gloat over the spoils left behind by the dead. defacing anything that speaks for the previous inhabitants.

kind of bring to mind the opening scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey where the proto-human bashes the skulls of the dead with a femur and howls in celebration of its own omnipotence and superiority.

...or not

Exactly.

De-Evolution.

At this pace someone will say "Hey, let's all remove our opposable thumbs. That'll be fun."

But then the guy next to him will say "But, how will we light up our skull bong?"

Ah, the irony.

it begs the question:

without opposable thumbs how would the monkey get the locomotive under control

(there, that should satisfy the "what does this have to do with the dead?!" people)
